
More than 879,000 people in the United States have died of Covid-19 since the global pandemic began in early 2020.1 About a third of all Americans report that they personally knew at least one of these victims; one in five say that they have lost a close friend, and one in eight say that they have lost family.2 On top of that, more than 287,000 people in the United States have been hospitalized.3
