NYC Liberals accuse Republicans of costing them the election
Cuomo supporters calling for Curtis Sliwa to drop out are exposing the hiliarious logic of "vote-splitting" rhetoric.
Democratic nominee Zohran Mamdani is set to handily win New York City’s mayoral race with a commanding 14 point lead, according to an AARP / Gotham poll released yesterday. In ordinary times, a Democrat cruising to victory in a general election would be great news for liberals. But Mamdani is a socialist, and that has flipped the usual dynamic on its head, sending right-wing Democrats flocking to the independent campaign of disgraced former governor Andrew Cuomo.
If anyone had any illusions about how sincere right-wing Democrats are when they insist that we should “vote blue no matter who,” they should be long gone now. In 2024, less than 1% of NYC voters supported left-wing independents like Jill Stein, Claudia de la Cruz, and Cornel West. Today, more than twenty times that number are preparing to defect from the Democratic Party in a moonshot bid to elect Andrew Cuomo. This isn’t just a matter of a few Democrats engaging in hypocrisy: this is a mass movement of liberals proving that you should never take their Democratic loyalty rhetoric seriously again.
