Chuck Schumer has proposed that if Trump finds a way to lower the cost of living for Americans, Democrats will support renaming the Gulf of Mexico. This is a deal that will never happen, of course — but it’s nevertheless stoked considerable outrage among much of the liberal-left. Outrage that, in my view, tells a pretty depressing story about the state of our politics.
