Without capitalism, the broligarchs would just be bros

It is capitalism, first and foremost, that makes Trump's Silicon Valley billionaires dangerous.

A spate of articles over the past few days have given a name to the Silicon Valley billionaires who’ve rallied around Donald Trump: “the broligarchs.” The name “speaks to a growing political and sociological divide between men and women,” Charles Trepany explains in USA Today. Brooke Harrington, interviewed in Vox, adds that “The ‘bro’ part of broligarch is…built on this idea that not only are these guys superior, they are superior because they’re guys.”

No one can deny that toxic masculinity is running rampant among men like Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg. This line of criticism, however, elides what makes the broligarchs truly destructive: capitalism.
